Canon has addressed the shortcomings of its EOS M mirrorless camera with the impending launch of the EOS M2, featuring faster autofocus (the consensus drawback of the original) and Wi-Fi networking. Canon promises that a new Hybrid CMOS AF II system delivers auto-focus speeds over 2.3 times faster than the EOS M, as well as phase detection pixels that covers up to 80 percent of the total viewfinder — over double the size of the area on the shooter’s predecessor. The built-in 18-megapixel APS-C sensor remains the same, topping out at ISO 12,800, or 25,600 if the higher-noise expanded range is enabled. The Canon EOS M2 has been announced for the Japanese market, with Canon confirming the camera will not be available for Europe or North America.
