Representing the entry-level tier of Fujifilm‘s ever expanding X series line of cameras, the upcoming X-A1 interchangeable-lens camera packs a 16.3-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor (not the X-Trans sensor found on the previous entry-level model, the X-M1.), and an EXR Processor II, which supports a sensitivity range of ISO 200 through 6400, with extended settings as high as 25600 available. The shooter also has the same 3-inch 920k-dot tilting LCD screen and built-in Wi-Fi found in the X-M1, and according to Fuji the X-A1 has a start time of just 0.5, shutter lag of just 0.05 seconds, and a burst mode capable of 5.6fps for a maximum of 30 frames. On the video front, you’ll get 1080p clips at 30fps, with sound captured by a built-in stereo microphone. The X-A1 will be available in black, red or blue finishes, with an asking price of $599.95 that includes a bundled Fujinon XC 16-50mm F3.5-5.6 OIS lens. Additionally, Fuji is announcing a new telephoto lens, a 50-230mm f/4.5-6.7 OIS, which is made for long-range shooters and retails for $400. Look for the X-A1 to launch later this month.
