Instead of relegating the G3 to obsolete status, Panasonic instead releases the DMC-G5 to address some of the issues owners have noticed in the older model’s toolset. The latest in the brand’s long line of SLR-styled Micro Four Thirds camera bodies, this 16-megapixel shooter looks and works a lot like a compact D-SLR, but with a nice boost in its performance coming from Panasonic’s Light Speed autofocus system and a new battery capable of 320 shots. On the backside, the DMC-G5 has a 3-inch vari-angle touch-screen LCD and an eye-level EVF that gives you a good view into the photos shot through ISO 6400 at up to 5.3 frames-per-second and videos in 1080p60, even though this device lacks an external microphone input. If you’re interested in the Panasonic Lumix DMC-G5, all sites are pointing toward Amazon where you can get one heck of a camera for under $500.
