Samsung’s new Galaxy Camera 2, which the brand is debuting this week, is the true embodiment of a smart point-and-shoot. Running Android and coming with wireless connectivity, the Galaxy Camera 2 is operated through its large 4.8-inch touchscreen and is designed to make taking photos and sharing them easy as pie. Though the Galaxy Camera 2 has the same 16-megapixel resolution and a 1/2.33-inch sensor as many other cameras, the device more than makes up for the standard specs with a new image processing system that runs on a 1.6GHz processor, 2GB of RAM, and a battery that’s estimated to last over 350 shots. The device is also running Android 4.3, and in addition to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, the new Galaxy Camera also includes NFC connectivity and is packed with many shooting modes (28 in total) as well as some advanced modes for more seasoned photographers. In terms of body styling, it looks to be much easier to hold and operate, doing away with the curves in place of a more traditional shape. Pricing and availability will be announced at a later date, but Samsung is promising to have the new camera on display at CES next week.
