Earlier today, Samsung unveiled the company’s first attempt at a smartwatch, the Galaxy Gear. Featuring a 1.63″ AMOLED display, the Galaxy Gear is definitely an eye catcher and the brushed metal that surrounds it gives this watch a strong wrist presence. While physical appearance was taken into account, we all know the focus of this watch was the tech.
Amongst the phone’s features is a 1.9 megapixel camera to get your spy game on, a speaker built into the wrist strap, a microphone for Bluetooth connectivity, the previously mentioned display which features 320×320 resolution, a 800 MHZ processor, 512 MB of RAM, and last but not least 4 GB of internal storage. And what does all this cost? Retail is set at $300 with the consumer having six different colors to choose from.
One downside being reported is the battery life which Samsung says is good for an entire day of frequent usage. That doesn’t sound like much.
For tech junkies out there, are you impressed with what are your thoughts on Samsung‘s first foray into the smartwatch industry and more importantly, will this a future purchase?
